I'm glad we had already started making our own decisions on colours and inclusions for our new house as Metricon gave us 3 hours to select carpets, wall colours, cabinet finishes, flooring, bench tops, handles, roof, driveway, render finishes etc. Basically, every single little aspect needed to be decided in these 3 hours - oh and we got 3 hours the next day to do our electrical selections like lighting etc.
I have to say that the selection process at Studio M (the place you make all the selections) was actually quite enjoyable. The consultant we got Jess was really friendly and made us 2 skinny lattes on arrival!
The set-up at Studio M is similar to what you would see at a home show - little stalls about the place from each supplier; Colour Bond, Carpet Call, Victory etc.
We literally visited each little store; greeted by a consultant who works for each company and made our selections. The consultants then add your selections to the system and send them on to our main Metricon Rep to add these to our contract - pretty seamless process and lots of fun.
So after 3 mostly enjoyable hours and a few arguments over the colour of the splash back (I won), here are the selections we made:

P.S. My advice to anyone who is about to make selections for you home at Studio M - visit as many of the suppliers as possible before your appointment.
It makes it much easier already having an idea of what you want. There is no way you could make these selections in 3 hours (and be happy) without doing this first.
All you need to do is visit the suppliers who are all listed on the Metricon website (http://www.studiom.com.au/building-suppliers) and tell them you'd like to see the Metricon range for the house type you are building. The only supplier we visited that could assit us was Carpet Call as they have a dedicated selection centre you need to visit.
